The majority of the world believes that there is life out there. There are some that believe that the life out there comes here to visit, citing the many UFO sightings and unexplained events. Then there is the alien abduction phenomena. Although dismissed by many, there are cases where credible witnesses come forward to report their close encounter with aliens and they are more difficult to ignore. This is the case with the story of Elise and Tom Gifford and their encounter on October 21st, 1989.

In THE MOJAVE INCIDENT, Author Ron Felber, tells the tale of this young couple on a camping trip seeing lights in the sky. Those lights get brighter and soon small beings are surrounding their camper, trapping them and their young children inside. Soon, their thoughts are being manipulated and they are at the mercy of these aliens. That night was terrifying but what followed was even worse.

When they got home, the aliens continued their visits and the couple began to question their own sanity. Their parents didn’t believe their story and society would most certainly ridicule them. Despite knowing this to be true, there was the need to share their story and they did. At one point in their life, they sat in the camper surrounded by aliens, and wrote what they believed to be their last words. Their words of hope for an afterlife and their hopes that their children would be taken care of. They survived and now they would face the mockery without hesitation.

Despite their certainty that something supernatural occurred, the couple left options open and listened to all points of view and theories. Some of the recorded evidence gives some credibility to their story that the aliens came down to study or experiment on them. Whatever the case may be, this couple believed that they had a close encounter.

Ron Felber does a fantastic job of painting the picture and systematically increasing the tension with every page. At times, this book is very unsettling and it’s easy to put yourself into the shoes of the couple. The feeling of helplessness as their children were also potential victims of this force hits the reader very hard. Felber’s ability to bring the reader in and show them what transpired was very impressive.

THE MOJAVE INCIDENT is an incredible book and may make you question the stereotype of alien abduction victims as aluminum foil hat-wearing nut jobs. We are presented a fantastic story from a couple that had no reason to make it up. The fact that they shared the experience gives them some credibility. In the end, I highly recommend this book, regardless of what you believe. You can enjoy it from a “true story” point of view or enjoy it as a flat out thriller. Either way, you will enjoy it.

Dark Places (2015) -Horror Movie Review - Satanic Panic Returns

By Melissa Antoinette Garza I’ve been a Charlize Theron fan for years.  She doesn’t go for easy and really delves into the characters she portrays.  I had never heard of Dark Places nor had I read the novel.  I was actually surprised that it went straight-to-streaming.  Not only was Theron […]
